Where is my mind?

There are castles of

manipulation, cold

walls, holding captive what is

left behind

after constant drilling.

“Life is too short,” says

the paint on the wall,

fading into the bricks,

L O S T

in the wind.

Is that all there is?

A chronic scheme

to make a blend

No One

can stand out from.

Till each petal

falls off

and all that is

L E F T

is the stigma.

Is that

where they wish to drive me?

Where

is my mind?

Tangled

between the stairs that go

Up

the road that goes

Down.

“Just go for it,” said

the thief

of belief, “What’s there to lose?”

What is there to lose?

When there are no bolds

to fancy

Our lives reduced

to a white canvas,

the palette far

from our reach.

Keep moving forward, isn’t that

what they said?

Regrets

will be forgotten

in the flash

of a second.

Words

will run out one day,

Silence

will cry out in

agony.

Dusk will give in

to the night,

along with my will

to fight.

Where

is my heart?

They never dared to

ask.

Scared

that the bird

might try to take-

off.

When I’m alone

with the stars that I cherish

the most.

Is that as dangerous

as wild

as I come?

Too vivid, too vibrant, to

live the stone

they want me to be.

So here

are my feet,

Chained

where they want them

Too weak to

voice my mind

As they whisper in my ear

“Don’t think about it,

and you’ll be all right.”

  1. I really love the structure of this piece. It does well to portray the confusion and in a way bring to life the question, “Where is My Mind?”
